Quite possibly one of the nicest flugelhorns (and very rare) to ever hit the market. This Scodwell Copper flugelhorn is a Kanstul made horn and is an excellent player. Tony Scodwell is a reknowned trumpet player and horn builder and was famously in Doc’s band. He has consulted with many manufacturers over the years and builds his own trumpets in Las Vegas. His flugelhorns are very unique in the fact that they have a tuneable lower branch which makes the intonation unbelievable! This design of Tony’s horn is based on the body of the Kanstul 1025 Chicago (copy of a French Besson) with Tony’s copy of a Clark Terry Selmer bell. The copper makes the sound luscious and warm but still light and fluffy. You have an amazing amount of tonal possibilities with this horn and it is very mouthpiece sensitive! Tony now has his Flugels made by Carol Brass and in my opinion the quality and playability cannot be compared to Kanstul. This is a true Scodwell USA horn and the copper version is about as rare as you can get!
